Ashley VanGemeren is a visual artist currently working and living in Central Maryland. Specializing in mixed media, she creates intuitive, low-relief paintings on canvas as well as collages on paper using a combination of traditional and non-traditional materials. Throughout her works, VanGemeren uses the relationship between color and texture as a vehicle to communicate her experiences with romantic relationships and mental illness.
Since 2012, VanGemeren has been an active participant in various group shows including Out of Order (Baltimore, MD), Collector’s Choice (Camarillo, CA), New Beginnings (Longmont, CO), and SIAMO QUEL CHE MANGIAMO? She earned her BFA in Fine Art from the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design/George Washington University in 2015.
